The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is a statutory public Trust charged under the National Pensions Act, 2008 Act 766 with the administration of Ghana’s Basic National Social Security Scheme. Its mandate is to cater for the First Tier of the Three-Tier Pension Scheme.
The statutory monthly payments of 18.5% (Employers13.5% + Employee 5%) Employees income to SSNIT. This contribution aims to provide replacement of part of lost income of workers in Ghana due to Old Age, Invalidity or Death of a member where dependents receive lump sum payment. It is also responsible for the payment of Emigration benefit to a non-Ghanaian member who is leaving Ghana permanently.
Employers, Organizations, Workers
SSNIT Contributions payments calendar is between the 1st – 14th of every month. Kindly note if the 14th falls on a weekend automatically the day preceding the 14th becomes the last day for all SSNIT Tier 1 payments by all employers.
Express Clearing of SSNIT Tier 1 Pensions cheques
All cheques FirstBank cheques and 3rd Party cheques will proceed through Express clearing without charges.
Instant Crediting of SSNIT Tier 1 Pensions cheques
All 3rd Party cheques will be credited instantly to enable collections run through the last day of SSNIT Tier 1 contribution payments.
Cheque pickup
FirstBank RMs to pick cheques from clients and deposit into the SSNIT Tier 1 Collections account on or before the 14th of every month.
Receipting of Payments
Bank will provide receipt to Customer inclusive of Payment Advice form, Copy of Cheques paid, Bank receipt for payment
